POP RACE Skyline C210 Bosozoku Style

POP RACE Skyline C210 Bosozoku Style

Yoroshiku – POP RACE Skyline C210 Bosozoku Style

夜露死苦!(よろしく / Yoroshiku) If you recognise these four kanji characters, you probably already know that the car we’re featuring today is tied to Bosozoku culture. Bosozoku (暴走族) style is a product of Japan’s 1970s and 1980s street modification culture, characterised by extremely exaggerated visual effects.

This time, POP RACE’s C210 retains the signature overfenders, massive rear wing, and vibrant livery graphics, along with the iconic takenoko (bamboo spear) exhaust pipes — all reproduced with impressive accuracy. This Bosozoku modification style was popular mainly among young car owners in the Kanto and Kansai regions, symbolising a spirit of rebellion and self-expression. The model even preserves the Bosozoku slogan stickers on the windows.

POP RACE has released multiple variants in one go this time, including black and white, silver and green, silver and purple, as well as a Japanese Coca-Cola edition in collaboration with Tiny. All four models feature different finishes — matte, metallic silver base coat, and chrome plating are all represented — with colour combinations that are bolder and more eye-catching than usual. Our personal favourite is the silver and purple one; the chrome plating effect produces varying depths of metallic lustre under different lighting conditions. The Coca-Cola edition, on the other hand, has a nostalgic charm to it — the creamy white paired with the classic red logo strips away some of the Bosozoku aggression and replaces it with a warmth reminiscent of the Showa era. Placed alongside the other three, it ironically becomes the most distinctive of the set. POP RACE has managed to distil the essence of Bosozoku culture into 1/64 scale this time around. Lined up together, the four models make quite an imposing sight and are well worth picking up as a complete set. ^^
