BEIJING BJ130 Light Truck

Dowry Truck – Xcartoys BEIJING BJ130 Light Truck

Xcartoys’ creative play options are endless! After the airport stair truck, we now have a dowry truck (wedding procession truck) version of the Beijing Second Automobile Accessory Factory light truck. The truck itself isn’t the main attraction, but rather the 18 accessories included.

Sending dowry, also known as “fa lian,” involves wedding gifts that are mostly clothes, mosquito nets, quilts, washbasins, foot basins, face wash basins (stands), buckets, wooden boxes, wooden cabinets, drawer tables, large tables and chairs, small tables and stools, braziers, charcoal, tea sets, tableware, etc. Of course, with the changing times, the dowry has also changed. For example, in the 1970s, there was a saying of “three rounds, one sound, thirty-six legs.” “Three rounds, one sound” referred to bicycles, sewing machines, watches, and radios, while “thirty-six legs” included a double bed, wardrobe, closet, bedside table, dressing table, desk, square table, and four chairs. Later, televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, etc., were added, almost like moving an entire house.

As for this Beijing BJ-130 light truck produced by Beijing Second Automobile Works, its origins can be traced back to 1965. To improve the city’s appearance and solve the problem of “horse-drawn carriages not entering the city,” Beijing City commissioned the Beijing No. 2 Repair Shop to trial-produce it, using the Toyota Dyna 1900 as a reference model. A year later, the two-ton Beijing brand BJ130 truck was launched, and it officially went into production in 1973. The truck measures 4,710 x 1,850 x 2,100mm and is powered by a 2.4-liter 492Q four-cylinder engine that produces 77 horsepower and 17.5kg-m of torque. It has a top speed of 85km/h and can carry three people. Later, the First Ministry of Machine Building designated the BJ130 as a standard model, and anyone with a letter of introduction from a machinery factory could obtain a complete set of BJ130 drawings. As a result, 20 to 30 factories across the country produced the BJ130, with a cumulative production of over 500,000 units. In 1985, the state introduced the Japanese Isuzu N-series truck through a combination of technology and trade. After Beijing Second Automobile Works replaced the cab, it launched the BJ136 (later BJ1041), and the BJ130 faded out of the historical stage.

This should be Xcartoys’ third time launching a wedding series. The first two were Shangahi SH760 and Toyota Crown sedan, and this Beijing BJ130 truck is the second. The large paper box has the words “Eternal Union” printed on it, with a cartoon image of the truck model below. Opening the inner box, there are “highest instructions” on the left, and the 1/64 BJ130 and 18 accessories on the right. The main modification to the BJ130 is the addition of the “double happiness” character (囍) on the door. The cab can be flipped forward to reveal the engine. The cargo bed can accommodate a wardrobe, bedding, washing machine, dressing table, chamber pot, thermos, table, chairs, large boxes, etc. There are also ribbons that can be hung on the front of the truck. With an old-fashioned scene, you can almost “move in” immediately without buying anything else.
